Strong schools help families move here, businesses invest here, and kids build their futures here. EFEC is partnering with the Eagle County School District to explore a ballot measure this November that would strengthen schools for the next generation.
Local funding has fallen behind comparable mountain communities, and the district faces growing challenges: attracting and retaining great educators, maintaining student programs, and preserving the high-quality schools our community values.
At 5:30 p.m., Bryson Beaver, Chief Financial Officer for Eagle County School District, will present an overview of the district's funding landscape, explain why local funding has become increasingly important, and discuss what these challenges mean for our students, educators, and community.

Aug 5th: Lelia Conlin, ECSD Board of Education President, will also be in attendance and available to answer questions during an open community discussion following the presentation.

BECAUSE STRONG SCHOOLS MATTER
The Colorado education funding crisis is a direct result of state-level, voter-approved policies. E•ƒ(ec) programs address immediate classroom needs. However, E•ƒ(ec)'s approach to solving the education funding emergency is to engage and inform our community about policies that compromise our kids’ ability to learn, thrive, and grow. E•ƒ(ec)’s impact is represented in the community campaigns listed below. Since 2011 E•ƒ(ec)’s advocacy & campaign work have resulted in the infusion of over $228M local dollars to Eagle County Schools.
2026 E•f(ec) Advocacy
Eagle County School District has begun a community conversation about long-term funding solutions to support competitive teacher pay and stable staffing, including the potential for a mill levy override in 2026. This work reflects growing concern about the chronic underfunding of public education in Colorado and its impact on local public schools.
Eĥ(ec) is proud to help bring this work forward by investing in community engagement and transparent information sharing in support of Eagle County School District initiatives. This builds on many years of Eĥ(ec)-led advocacy, fundraising, and community engagement to help surface both the need and the will for sustainable funding solutions.
Eĥ(ec) exists to help make education funding challenges visible, engage the community honestly, and support long-term solutions that strengthen our schools, educators, and students.
2023 E•f(ec) Advocacy
In 2023, E•ƒ(ec) actively campaigned two ballot questions that worked together to strengthen our local schools and community to help retain and attract quality teachers and staff, build employed housing, expand early childhood education, enhance safety and security in our schools, and provide student mental health supports.
5A Mill Levy Override would have invested in teachers, kids, and mental health. Unfortunately, this did not pass.
5B Bond invests in critical employee housing and early childhood facilities. This measured passed!

Recognizing that education funding is a statewide crisis, E•f(ec) works with Great Education Colorado on state initiatives towards long-term, sustainable solutions, including the following campaigns:

2018 - Amendment 73
2019 - Prop CC
2020 - Fair Tax Colorado Initiative 271
2022 - Initiative 63
2019 - 2021 E•f(ec) Advocacy
Successful public campaign supporting 2021 ballot measure 5B, raising awareness of student mental health needs, the successes gained by restoring counselor positions, the importance of social-emotional learning, prevention and resiliency education in school. The measure successfully removed an impending 2023 sunset of the $8.5M per year funding received from the passage of 3A in 2016.

2011 - 2016 E•f(ec) Advocacy
In 2016, E•ƒ(ec) raised $105,000 to reach out and engage with local voters to present on benefits of local funding solutions culminating in two successful ballot initiative campaigns:
3A Mill Levy Override: Infused Eagle County Schools with $8.5M annually for sustainable teacher and staff pay increases and curriculum funding. This funding also restored counselor and enrichment teacher positions that had been eliminated due to perpetual education budget cuts.
3B Bond: Provided $154M in one-time funding for 17 schools in deferred school building maintenance, repairs, and renovations; updated security at every school; technology upgrades; and construction of four new schools.
